Nulec Advanced Controller 2 (ADVC2) Functional Test System
THE TASK: To develop a fully automated, self contained functional test station using National Instruments hardware, custom interface and signal conditioning hardware and a LabVIEW application. The functional test will take place at the end of the production line before the ADVC2 is shipped.
THE AIM: To fully test a variety of different functions within The Advanced Controller 2 reliably and quickly using one all purpose test set with minimal user input and increase the test coverage from prior test systems.
THE SOLUTION: Using a National Instruments PXI chassis containing Pentium controller unit with GPIB, Controller Area Network (CAN) Card, Digital IO and Analogue IO Cards. LabVIEW software was written to emulate switchgear and other devices connected to the ADVC2. This allowed 100% functional test of the system as well as inter-board communication testing.
The project has been commissioned to the Flextronics manufacturing plant in Indonesia. Once used in full production, this system will be capable of operating 24x7, testing over 2000 units per month.
CUSTOMER BENEFITS: The overall benefit to the customer is a HUGE saving in both time and money and a very significant increase in reliability, accuracy and consistency of results along with detailed history of any units tested allowing them to provide better equipment to their customers.
