MeT has extensive experience designing electronic schematics and printed circuit boards, even at mil-spec standards. We are confident that our electronic design knowledge will be beneficial to any project. We are also experienced designing to CE, FCC and EMI spec standards.
MeT has completed a number of projects that have extended from Proof of Concept right through to Manufacturing. Depending on unit qualitites, we can handle either in-house or third-party manufacturing options.
We are highly proficient in designing test platforms and systems. Our experience ranges from testing To-the-Component level in circa '85 boards, testing mil-spec PCB modules and producing automatic test reports, to testing manufactured units at the end of an assembly line.
We have a wide range of experience when it comes to firmware programming for microcontrollers, microprocessors, stand-alone ROMs and even simple applications that utilise PICs. Our programming knowledge ranges anywhere between the Assembly language to standard C++.
MeT prefers to use NI LabVIEW for software development, for its simplicity, scalability and maintainability. Although LabVIEW is our 'platform of choice', our experience does thoroughly extend to other forms of software programming tools and techniques.
MeT is a System Integrator for National Instruments (NI) in Brisbane, Queensland. NI specialises and is a market leader of Test, Measurement and Automation equipment. Their powerful graphical software, LabVIEW, is revolutionising these fields and MeT have highly experienced engineers certified in LabVIEW and NI system integration. MeT has produced countless reliable automated test and measurement systems using this technology, more recently for Boeing, RUAG, QR National, Queensland Rail and Siemens.
MeT is a Silver-Level Certified Alliance Partner in National Instruments' worldwide Alliance Program. Our certification is your guarantee of in-depth NI product knowledge, extensive application development experience, and comprehensive support and training for all National Instruments' products.
Our experience extends from concept to deployment, using systems such as PXI, CompactDAQ, CompactRIO and custom electronic hardware, all using LabVIEW. Integration may also include a wide range of sensors, third-party control systems and intrumentation.
MeT has a long list of applications that have included embedded hardware design and firmware programming. Ranging up to the latest ARM microcontrollers. Many applications have included functionality in GPS, mobile data (3G), sensor monitoring and real-time tracking.

The project to date is ongoing with very successful results so far. To date, MeT has designed applications to test two different radios, a transponder and a control panel. Continuing development will see many more test modules for different equipment being developed, making use of the existing test station hardware.

The Mine Detonation Detection System (MDDS) was developed by MeT to overcome this problem. The system uses piezoelectric sensors around the Drone boat to measure the time of arrival of the pressure wave from a blast. The MDDS uses these measured timing differences to locate the position of the blast using a mathematical algorithm similar to that used by GPS receivers.
MeT's involvement in the project involved the hardware and software design, modifications to the communication protocol, system integration, third party design validation testing and full military documentation.
The project has been commissioned to the Flextronics manufacturing plant in Indonesia. Once used in full production, this system will be capable of operating 24x7, testing over 2000 units per month.
A report is generated detailing the serial number of the unit and any failed steps. Any fault finding information found in the Test Procedures relating to failed steps is included in the report to assist in the fault finding exercise. The test software has a fault finding mode that enables the software to go to a specific step in the procedure and hold there to allow fault finding to be undertaken.

MeT's facilities are located in the Brisbane Technology Park. This facility consists of an air-conditioned office, production and support areas. The engineering laboratory and production facilities include a comprehensive set of calibrated test equipment, Computer Aided Design tools, system integration area and other electronic design systems.
Microelectronic Technologies was originally formed in 1992 as a joint venture between Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) and Griffith University (QLD, Australia). After various ownership structures, a management buyout in October 2009 enabled the ownership of MeT to transfer to the staff. MeT is now proudly owned and operated by the staff.
